Awesome original title, right? My Copic Multi's are getting dry and there will be no possible way for me to afford more in the foreseeable future. T_T

The black on the tail and in the keys is done in Higgins Ink.

I hate Higgins Ink.

The bird is based on a Columbian OEGB.

Why bother with markers?  Get some nibs and a brush (sorry, you probably have that already) and use that bottled carbon ink for what it's worth!  For the tones, mix a wash, or stipple, or hatch and cross hatch.  You got this sixteen ways to Sunday!

Here's something to think about:  what is the center of interest of this piece?  Is it the underside and back of the tail?

If it's not, then why place the highest contrast at those places?  Contrast hooks the eye.  Generally, in black and white art it is used to define the center of interest.  So, if it is the bird's head, it would be used either as a spot of black on white (a black head framed with white background) or somehow worked into the back ground behind the white head.

Woah, take it easy man. I appreciate the critique, but... easy. As it distinctly seems to matter, ha-ha, I rather just wanted to let the line / swoosh thingy of the black keys carry your eye through the piece, nothing more. ^^ No reason to take it quite so seriously.

Again, appreciated, thanks much!

Hey.  Hang your art in public and someone's bound to take you seriously.
